Practical Nursing

This program is approved by the Tennessee Board of Nursing. The Nursing program prepares individuals to become members of a nursing team in hospitals, long term health care facilities, doctors’ offices, outpatient clinics, and home health care. Students are required to complete supervised clinical experiences in all areas of nursing care. Prior to receiving an application for the May 2019 Practical Nursing program or the Hybrid Pratical Nursing program that begins January 2019, applicants are required to complete the prerequisite courses for Dosage Calculation and Anatomy and Physiology

NEXT CLASS – October 2018 (Prerequisites) Only

The first step is to attend an Information Session.  It is mandatory that you attend one of the following sessions to be eligible to enroll in the pre-requisites courses. The session will last approximately one hour. The following dates are available:

Monday, July 23, 2018 @ 10:00 a.m.(Nashville Campus)
Tuesday, July 24, 2018 @ 1 p.m. (Portland Campus)
Monday, August 13, 2018 @ 10:00 a.m.(Nashville Campus)
Tuesday, August 14, 2018 @ 1 p.m. (Portland Campus)
Monday, September 17, 2018 @ 10:00 a.m.(Nashville Campus)
Tuesday, September 18, 2018 @ 1 p.m. (Portland Campus)
 

During the session, we will discuss class schedules for prerequisites, preregistration dates, fees, and other vital information pertaining to the Practical Nursing program.

Prior to receiving an application for the May 2019 Practical Nursing program or the Practical Nursing Hybrid program that begins January 2019 you will need to successfully complete the prerequisite courses which are: Anatomy & Physiology and Dosage Calculations.

The prerequisites will be offered starting October 2018. Upon successfully passing the prerequisites, applicants will receive an application packet for the May 2019 Practical Nursing program.

Nashville sessions will be held in the Douglas Henry Building, Room 229/231. Parking is available in the back of the campus. Please do not park in faculty/staff or visitor parking.

Portland sessions will be held at 602 South Broadway, Portland Tennessee.  For directions or parking information for sessions at the Portland campus call 615-325-5575.

NOTE: Seats are limited to 75 people per session. In the event seats are filled, we will have a second session immediately following the first. The door will close promptly at 10:00 a.m. in order to start the meeting on time.

Please do not bring children to the meeting. For their safety, children are not allowed to sit in the breakroom unattended. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Care for ill, injured, or convalescing patients or persons with disabilities in hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, private homes, group homes, and similar institutions. May work under the supervision of a registered nurse. Licensing required.
